Good morning from Finland!
I hope you're all doing really well, dear readers. I made some changes to this blog. Being a friend to the missionaries is what I am and I want to continue writing about some of our experiences together. I am often willing to be the first member they visit and connect with, and I love helping them feel welcome. Honestly, most missionaries appreciate my help. The ones who are a little iffy, are mostly sister missionaries. I am too old maybe, to be friends with the sisters, sometime, I really don't know... Oh boy. It has been interesting and sometimes very challenging. When some parts of our group have less of a friendly attitude towards me or something. But thank goodness it's almost always good.
The things I do for the missionaries are feed them and give treats, being friendly and welcoming, speak English (I need the practice and we can understand each other well), invite them to my home. Sometimes we also have parties. I have received a lot of help from the missionaries during my life.
The one thing that really connects me to them is when I was on a mini mission in 1997, I was 17, I spent two weeks in Jyväskylä and became severely ill, I had a psychosis and ended up in the mental hospital in Nokia (Pitkäniemi) for eight (8!) months. The missionaries visited every week. I want to thank them, to repay some of the help and support I have felt and received during these almost three decades... I know, I am old. But a part of me is still 17, on my mission that changed my life completely.
We had transfers this week! Yay and not-yay... :D It's always exciting.
We got some really nice new missionaries. I hope to help them as much as I can.
On Sunday I got a message from my friend sis Nielsen and she was traveling to her new city through Tampere, so I had the opportunity to go say hello at the train station. I also met elder Standage for a little bit, his transfers also went through here.
